Even the components make a difference

Last year, the European Union issued a new directive on drinking water, which was published in the Official Journal at the end of December 2020 and must be transposed, with some exceptions, by January 12, 2023.

The goal of the European Drinking Water Directive is to ensure safer access to water for every European citizen.

Quality Water

In light of the need to guarantee high-quality water, particular attention is given to the materials that come into contact with water, as they could alter its organoleptic, physico-chemical, and microbiological properties.

Any operator involved in the production, treatment, or distribution of water must use compliant materials.

At Ecoterm, the materials in contact with drinking water during the design and molding of components that make up our products play a crucial role.

Engineering plastics

Engineering plastics, also known as technopolymers, are materials with excellent resistance to temperature, corrosion, and impact.

These properties of resistance and rigidity make them suitable for use in engineering fields, often replacing metals.

In Ecoterm's production, the technopolymers used must first comply with all regulations for products in contact with drinking water, while also ensuring exceptional technical performance, providing robustness under stress and long-lasting durability.

This is why we only use certified raw materials in various countries, and our technopolymers are approved according to the following standards.

  • DVGW (German Technical and Scientific Association for Gas and Water), according to standard W270 "Materials in contact with drinking water."
  • NSF (National Sanitation Foundation International, material testing for their suitability in potable water applications in the United States), according to NSF/ANSI 61 standards.
  • WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme), products in contact with drinking water approved for use in Great Britain.
  • ACS (Attestation de Conformité Sanitaire), products tested to ensure that their formulation complies with the French list of substances approved for contact with drinking water.
